  1. Brink of Soul

From the recording Brink of Soul

This tune was composed in late summer/early fall of 1996. The demo was produced and recorded at Euphoria Studios in NYC on October 28, 1996. Shortly thereafter it was submitted to The Tower of Power for consideration. Considering the personnel I had no choice but to call it "The Best Damn Band In New York." Here's why: Lead Vocals: Tom Bowes Trumpet 1: Tony Kadleck Trumpet 2: Scott Wendholt Solo Tenor: John Scarpulla Tenor 2: Dave Mann Bari Sax: Ed Xiques Keys: Greg Schleich Gtr: Dave Lavender Bass: Chris Jisi Drums: Lee Finkelstein (The Definitive Funkmeister) Back Up Vocals: Tim Lawless, Gale Cruz & Anita Brown Trivia note: Contrary to common speculation, this tune was actually insipred by a guy named Brink Williams from South Carolina whom I met at The Wetlands, and danced with for the duration of two sets of Milo Z. I never told anybody that before. :-) Score & parts available on PRODUCTS page.

Lyrics

Rendezvous, whirlwind of fever, Hold me close, movin’ with the groove. Rock the house, get down with you all night. Body contact steals the night. A dancin’ fever is a-runnin’ through me, Exchange a glance and move spontaneously. With all your charm you’ve got it second to none. Intoxicate me with your dance of seduction. Take me to the brink, to the brink of soul. Take me to the brink, to the brink of soul. Be discreet, come a little closer. Close the door, now we can see the light. Quiet now, tensions paralyze you. Feel the heat, the thrill will ignite you. A dancin’ fever is a-runnin’ through me, Exchange a glance and move spontaneously. With all your charm you’ve got it second to none. Intoxicate me with your dance of seduction. Take me to the brink, to the brink of soul. Take me to the brink, to the brink of soul.
